Description from the creator

This video depicts the careful construction of a Japanese tanto using the traditional forging methods. This tanto is completely handmade and incredibly sharp as I used a very hard steel which can keep a good edge. I also polished the blade up to 2000 grit sand paper before using a buffing wheel to do the final polishing and honing of the edge.
I do not put a hamon line on the blade since I am using spring steel and as seen in an earlier video of mine, spring steel WONT TAKE A HAMON! The Japanese smiths never had access to spring steel when they made swords so needed to put a hamon line on their blades to add flexibility and toughness. This blade is made with steel that is already super flexible and tough so differential hardening of the blade wouldn't be necessary anyways.
