Here's a simple video of how we make our own soap. We simply take ash from our woodstove and apply it to our dishes, rinsing as usual.

**It's helpful to sift the ash so it doesnt scratch pots and pans; its also very useful to have a screen over your sink drain so you don't clog your drain.

If we are ever cleaning particularly greasy/oily dishes, we add dried clay to the mixture. Simply collect dirt from outside, remove any large stones, and add in equal portions to the ash.
