Description from the creator

Experiment with making traditional milk paint at home using skim milk powder, hydrated lime and mineral pigments!

The ratio for making dry mix milk paint is:

4 parts skim milk powder : 1 part lime : 1 part pigment

The recipe I use in this video is scaled down for testing in batches.

For each small cup of paint I use:

2 tsp skim milk powder
1/2 tsp lime
1/2 to 3/4 tsp mineral pigment
4 tsp of water, more or less to the desired thickness

I find skim milk powder at my local bulk food store.

My mineral pigment comes from the Sculpture Supply store in Toronto: sculpturesupply.com/list.p...

But you can also buy them online:

earthpigments.com/

Powdered hydrated lime can be found in a number of places, marketed for a number of uses.

You can use whitewash lime:

homehardware.ca/en/rec/ind...

Or mason's lime:

skycon.ca/skyvac/product_info....

Or garden lime:

amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_nos...

These are all essentially the same thing!

Feel free to ask any questions here. I'd love to see the colours you come up with. :)
