How to make Liquid Castile Soap

Things you need
Stick blender - amzn.to/2pEW12R
Coconut Oil - amzn.to/2s14ttW
Olive Oil - amzn.to/2Xq3qiK
Ladle - amzn.to/2rdG6ZP
Heavy duty spoon - amzn.to/37w1t9t
Gloves - amzn.to/2O9MYjM
Crock pot - amzn.to/2rjr5FB
Potassium Hydroxide - amzn.to/2D6acRu
Kitchen Scale - amzn.to/2s3Kmvb

Ingredients
24 oz Olive Oil
16 oz Coconut Oil
9.35 oz Potassium Hydroxide (You cannot use Sodium Hydroxide to make liquid soap. They are not interchangeable)
32 oz distilled water ( I use purified water from my refrigerator)
10 to 12 cups distilled or purified water for dilution

Instructions

Make sure you have a crock pot big enough or you will make a mess of soap all over the place. You need a crock pot of 6 quarts or bigger to make this recipe.

Add oils to crock pot and set on high heat.
Mix your lye and water and stir until lye mixture is clear.
Once oils in crock pot melt, slowly add your lye water solution.
Stick blend for 5-10 minutes or until mixture comes to trace. (it will look like pudding once it has reached traced)

Set a timer for 30 mins and stir and fold into the mixture every 5 minutes. The mixture will become way too thick for stirring so you will need to fold it to get it to turn over.
You will notice the mixture becoming Elmer's glue consistency after the 30 mins

Put lid on crock pot.
Set a timer for 3 hours folding every 30 mins.
The mixture will come more and more translucent and you will notice it burn a bit on the edges but that is OK, the soap won't burn, and it will all dissolve later. You will also notice a smell. It isn't an unpleasant overwhelming smell, but you will notice it. I think it’s the lye cooking out of the oils.

After 3 hours you will want to do a clarity test.
Boil 1/2 cup of water and stir in about a tbsp or more of your soap.
Slowly stir until it dissolves.
Let the mixture cool for a bit.
If there is scum left on the top of the water, then the lye is not cooked out and it needs to cook for another half hour or longer.
Repeat clarity test as needed. Your mixture will not be clear, you are looking for translucent. My mixture was a tad cloudy but no scum on top.

Once you have passed the clarity test, add 10 cups of water to crock pot and try to break up the soap as much as you can.
Put lid on crock pot and set temperature on WARM. If you leave it on high or medium it will boil over.
Let this sit for 8 hours or overnight. If you are awake during the 8 hours stir it occasionally.

After the 8 hours stir your soap. If the soap still has chunks in it add about 1 to 2 cups of water and turn the crock pot on high and stir frequently. Keep an eye on the crock pot that your soap doesn't boil over.

Once it has all dissolved let it cool and then transfer it to your bottle using a ladle and a funnel.
