Description from the creator

We've flown with our bikes a LOT and are getting pretty good at packing them quickly and maximizing the space in our bike bags to make sure we have everything we need (scroll down for a list of the things we pack in our bike bag).

Here's a step-by-step of how to pack your bike into the Pro Bike Gear Travel Case Mega (pro-bikegear.com/global/en-gb/accessories/Trave…):

0. Remove the frame from the bag, and if you've never used the bag before, follow these instructions to get the frame set up for your bike: youtube.com/watch?v=oRKBGeAkS9g
1. Remove pedals (it's easier to do this BEFORE you remove the wheels) and if you use pedals washers, ziptie them to your pedals so you don't lose them. Don't forget to put your pedals IN THE BAG!
2. Remove wheels and put brake shims in your brakes
3. Mount your bike to the bag frame
4. If you have a dropper post, lower it, if not, remove your seatpost from the frame
5. Remove your stem and handlebar and attach them to the frame using the included frame protector/handlebar mount
6. Use extra headset spacers to fill the space that is normally taken up by your stem to keep the frame from sliding on the steer tube
7. Cover the driveside leg of your fork with a piece of pipe foam (not included)
8. Insert the frame and bicycle (driveside out) into the bag and attach the frame using the straps at the bottom of the bag (there are 4 of them)
9. Attach the bicycle to the bag using the two straps on the back of the bag, one for the steer tube, one for the downtube or seatpost
10 (optional). If your bike is long enough that the rear derailleur is pushing against the bag, release the derailleur enough to allow the pin that pushes against the derailleur hangar to clear it and then tighten it up again. This keeps the derailleur hangar from getting crushed and from bouncing around in the bag
11. Remove your brake rotors from both wheels
12. Let some air out of your wheels (but not so much that the bead comes loose)
13. Put everything else you want to carry in your bike bag in (see list below)
14. Close the case
15. Put the wheels in the side pockets
16. Go have an adventure!

Here's what we recommend packing in your bike bag:

- Bike (duh)
- Helmet(s)
- Bike shoes
- Spare parts (tires, derailleur, brake pads, anything that might be hard to find or significantly more expensive wherever you're going)
- Hydration pack (make sure to empty the water to save weight)
- Protective gear (knee pads, back protector, etc)
- Any bike-related liquids (chain lube, tire sealant)
- The tools you need to put your bike back together (hex keys, centerlock rotor tool)
- Any other bike tools that are specific to your bike that might be hard to find at your destination
- If you plan to bring CO2 cartridges, put them in a water bottle in your bike bag, for some reason this gets them through security...
