Your music practice routine determines how well you play. Learn how to pick the most important topics – and to choose the right times to switch things up.

To make the most progress, you need to get the most out of your practice time. A large part of this comes down to what you choose to practice.

It’s about finding the single most important topic that’s going to give you the most progress right now. But also about being able to recognise that you’ve made enough progress there that you’re now better off switching to a new topic.

Make a habit in your music practice routine of switching between a big picture view and detailed work. This gives you a structure that allows you to spend most of your practice time on the most important topic, while also regularly scanning to see if something else has now become more important.

You’ll find the detailed instructions for building this into your music practice in the video itself.
