steps in removing a distributor
1. set engine to No. 1 cylinder on the compression stroke, making sure the rotor button points to No.1 lead
2. check timing marks are on Top Dead Centre
3. disconnect the distributor cap and leads
4. disconnect the coil wire
5. disconnect the vacuum advance pipe
6. remove distributor mount bolt
7. take out distributor taking note the direction of rotation of the rotor button
