A big part of socializing in the real world means talking privately. It's easy to do in real life. You just get over in the corner, talk a little closer to the person's ear, and nobody can hear what you're saying. It's one of the best things about going to a party. Most social networks have the ability to do this. You can send direct messages in Twitter. InMail options in LinkedIn, and private messaging in Facebook. They work great, and are easy to understand. That's not the case with Google Plus.
