Description from the creator

Want to compute exoplanet spectra and noise as measured with JWST? Want to retrieve aerosols and molecular abundances from orbiter data? Want to compute spectra of small bodies (e.g., comets, asteroids) and solar system objects as observed with ground-based observatories (e.g., Keck)? Want to develop a new mission or instrument and need to predict sensitivities and fluxes?

The Planetary Spectrum Generator (PSG, psg.gsfc.nasa.gov) is an online tool developed at Goddard for synthesizing planetary spectra at a broad range of wavelengths (50 nm to 100 mm, UV/Vis/near-IR/IR/far-IR/THz/sub-mm/Radio) from any observatory (e.g., JWST, ALMA, Keck, SOFIA), any orbiter (e.g., OCO-2, ExoMars, Cassini, New Horizons), or any lander.

This tutorial describes how to operate the tool and covers the basic configuration of a simulation, how to perform API operations, running retrievals and how to extract detailed radiative transfer parameters from the results.
