Using a Canon T3/1100D in 2019 | Tutorial - How to Install Magic Lantern

Hello everyone and welcome to a new and different video, this time we're going to show what you can do with a Canon EOS Rebel T3 in 2018 with Magic Lantern.

The Canon T3 was an entry level camera great for photography and video recording in HD quality even with its lack of Manual Features.

What is Magic Lantern?
Magic Lantern is a free software add-on that runs from your SD card and adds a lot of new features to Canon EOS cameras that weren't included from the factory by Canon.

To Install Magic Lantern on your Canon DSLR you will need:

A computer where you can download and copy the Installation Files of Magic Lantern to your SD Card, it doesn't matter if its a Windows or Mac, both work for this tutorial.

An SD Card with at least 10MB free of space to copy the installation files.

Make sure you are running the Canon firmware 1.0.5.
Go to the Magic Lantern website: magiclantern.fm
Look for the 'Downloads' section and select 'Nightly builds', and look for the right 'build' for your '1100D / Rebel T3', click on that and then click on the green button and the download will start automatically.
Then you will need to format the card from the camera.
Then copy the Magic Lantern files onto the SD card

Once you followed this steps, you're good to go.

Configuration for Manual Setting on Video Recording Mode:
Once you turned on your camera, press the "AV+-" or "Trash Icon" and the Magic Lantern Menu will appear, scroll down untill you found "Expo. Override" option and turn it on, now you can manually change options such as White Balance, ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture and the Picture Style as well you can change things on Movie Recording Mode such as its Bitrate, the FPS override and even use HDR on your videos by setting up the two exposures needed for that.

To switch between the Display offered by Canon and the one included with Magic Lantern which is an advanced one compared to the stock one you only need to be on 'Live View' and just press the 'Disp' or 'Display Button' twice untill it loads the custom one, the same process goes if you want to use it on Movie Recording Mode.
