HOW TO GAIN THE TRUST OF A CAT?

You have finally decided to buy that pet cat you have eagerly wanted for a long time. You bring him or her home with you in the hope of instant affection, cuddles, and playfulness. But you find that your new pet is very timid and wary of you. This can be upsetting for all the family and especially children who naturally want to hold and play with their new pet.

There can be many reasons your new cat is less than friendly with you. A cat from a rescue center may have lived a troubled past where it was mistreated or experienced abuse from its past owner. This will naturally cause the cat to have little trust in other humans and it will be tense and on guard regardless of how safe an environment you have created. It might just be the nature of the cat, they are independent animals by nature and if they have had little human contact in the past it will take time to adjust.

The good news is with a little patience and time you can gain the cat's trust. Here are some ways to help build that trust and a good relationship with your pet.
