In this video, I show you what my broody hen (a buff orpington) looks like. When a chicken is broody, she is trying to hatch eggs (and stops laying), so she will spend all of her time sitting in the egg nest box. The chicken will puff up her feathers and make audible irritable noises at you when you get too close, and if you take her out of the box, she'll try to run straight back in. Hens can become broody regardless of whether or not you have fertilized eggs.
