The concentration of calories in a common trash can makes it a powerful draw for wildlife. This creates a significant wildlife/human conflict. Each year I get calls from customers who just met a critter at their trash can. Trapping and relocating the offending animal is not a good option. Survival of relocated animals is far below what most people believe. Excluding the problem animal is a much better option. A simple bungee cord like shown in the video is an excellent answer.
