How to Make Fancy Horse Treats
ChannelThe Budget EquestrianDescription from the creator
Hi everyone! So today I decided to see if I could make some really fancy horse treats with simple ingredients. And guess what??? I did it, and it was really easy!
The ingredients for these horse treats are:
Old fashioned rolled oats
All Bran cereal
Figi apples
Molasses
Ground flax seed
Cracked corn
Water
Granulated sugar
Starlight peppermints
I didn't really know how much of each item to use,so I just started by adding a cup or two of the dry ingredients. And then I grated 2 apples, added the molasses and water and began to mix it up.
If you are making these, you don't want the mixture to get too runny. If it does, add some more ground flax seed, and rolled oats, it will help to thicken up the mixture.
Once I had a good consistency, I baked them in my oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 to 15 minutes.
And when I pulled them out of the oven, I put a peppermint candy in the middle of the treat and let it set for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
They actually came out really great! My horses loved them, and it made a TON of horse treats! For me this was better than spending $20.00 for a jar of horse treats, and now I have a really great Christmas gift idea for my horsey friends!
