Pads contain spikes which are on a metal base, making the padded area like a shield.
Substantial pressure is needed to access the spikes, the more you rip into the pads the more spikes you get.
 
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Spike Bite Vest is secured by velcro, and buckles. Reflective material helps to deter birds, and keeps your pet visible. Also has a carrying handle, with a D-Ring for leash hookup, and a ring on the side of the dogs neck for "controlled leashing," which helps to keep your pet on the right side of you.
