How to Stop A Horse With Your Seat ????

In this video, I cover how to stop a horse with your seat. Learning how to stop a horse can be a challenge. When you first start the tendency will be to pull on the reins. This is completely natural, but eventually, it is best to stop a horse with your seat. Doing this helps your horse to be more comfortable and relaxed, and sets you up for success in more advanced riding movements.

There are 4 steps to stopping a horse with your seat. These steps have worked well for me and hopefully will help you as well! Remember any time you get a good reaction from your horse, reward him or her, and there is no need to proceed to the next step. Your end goal is to quit riding and have a horse that stops with just your seat!

Whether you are a beginner or getting back into riding, stopping a horse with your seat is an important skill to learn. It helps improve communication and the relationship with your horse.

Enjoy your riding and I'll talk to you in the next video! 😊
