How to Teach my Puppy to Lie Down - Easy Lie Down Training

Lie down is one of the few basic commands every dog – no matter what breed it is – must know. You should train your dog how to sit, before you start with lie down, if you dont know hot to do that, i am giving you link to my How to Sit video in description. But back to the lie down command – after you get your dog to sitting position and get his favourite treat close to his nose. Slowly lure the dog into lie down position and always say clearly the command „Lie down“. Before i will show you how i trained my 8 weeks Labrador to lie down, i would love to say, that i am training Andy as Assistance guide dog for Czech blind person, so the commands must be in czech language. HOW TO TEACH YOUR DOG TO LIE DOWN:
Teach your dog how to sit first.
After you get your dog to sitting position put your dogs favourite treat in front of its nose.
Slowly lure the dog into lie down position and always say clearly the command „Lie down“.
Give your dog the treat and a big praise

I am from Czech republic, that is why you will hear czech commands in this video. Whenever you will hear me to say the word „lehni“ it means i am giving my puppy command to lie down.

Its important to train this few times a day for few minutes, since puppies will get distracted quite easily and they are not capable of long training sessions. Never push your dog into lie down position and never punish him for not doing good job. Puppies should not be punished, they will not understand it. As with all training – especially with puppies – consistency and patience is the key. Also stop giving him treats all the time, when he knows the command, but always show affection to him.
