Description from the creator

Hibernation is an important natural process every Russian tortoise goes through each year in their wild environment. In captivity, they still need a 2-3 month sleep period for their overall health and to trigger breeding behaviour.

It should only be done when your Russian is in peak health and can be done at any age. My group are all wild caught because when I purchased them 13 years ago there were no available captive bred Russian's. Mine have been hibernated for the last 12 years and have never had a problem or any post hibernation issues.

I strongly suggest you hibernate yours as well and I hope this video gives you the hi-level information you need to do so successfully.
