Description from the creator

Watch our kits in action while processing challenging sexual assault samples. These samples contain an excess of female DNA relative to male DNA making it difficult to detect the male component. In such cases, the use of Y-STR markers, such as those in the Applied Biosystems™ Yfiler™ Plus PCR Amplification Kit, allows amplification of low quantities of male DNA in a
high background of female DNA.

However, there could be cases when the sample does not yield any detectable male DNA even when analyzed using Y short-tandem repeat (STR) amplification. Inorder to save time and effort upfront, the QuantiFiler Trio kit can be used as a Y-screen assay.
