Google Assistant is available on many smartphones starting Android 6 Marshmallow. In this video I'll show you how to disable Google Assistant on Android 10 on a Google Pixel device. However, Google Assistant is available on many other smartphones such as Samsung, HTC, LG and the list is growing, but the good thing is the steps are the same for all devices with Android 10.
Let's get started. Take your phone in your hands and go to device's Settings. Search for Google Settings and select it. Localize Account services and select it. Look for Search, assistant & voice and select it. Go to Google Assistant and scroll down and find General settings. Select it. Switch off Google assistant and confirm your selection by selecting Turn Off. That's all! Google Assistant is disabled.
Nowadays a virtual assistant could be useful but as many other inbuilt Android apps it could interfere with other installed apps and broke their processes. This is the case with tracking or recording apps. Google Assistant is using the microphone and records your voice commands. The Android Operating System is built to support only one recording process at a time. That means the recordings features, both call recording and surroundings, could be destroyed by Google Assistant's processes and your recording files may be broken and cannot be restored. This is why we recommend to disable Google Assistant when using tracking or recording apps.
