Description from the creator

Glass has a very low surface energy - good ink adhesion is difficult!

You can improve the adhesion level by a pre-treatment with a silan compound in the flame.

Silan (e.g. Pyrosil® or Arcosil®), deposited by flame, forms a thin silicate layer onto the surface. The silicate layer has a high surface tension and improves ink adhesion (especially UV inks).

The silicate coating has many advantages:
- Increase of surface energy and ink adhesion
- Roughening & hydrophilisation of the glass surface improves water resistance
- Better scratch resistance
