How to insert footnote and endnote in Word | Working with end and footnotes

In this video today we will see how to add footnote and endnote in microsoft word. We will also see how to change endnote to footnote or footnote to endnote. Also we will see how to delete either a footnote or endnote one by one or all together at a time.

Hello everyone and welcome to my YouTube channel and today in this video we will see how to add footnotes and endnotes in word. Now footnotes and endnotes are used in documents to explain, comment or provide references to something you’ve mentioned in your document. Footnote is placed at the end of the page whereas end note is placed at the end of the document.

How to insert Footnote

1. Now to place a footnote, select the word for which you want to put the foot note.
2. Click on “References” tab.
3. Click on “Insert Footnote”.
4. You will see the number and then you can write what reference you want to put for the footnote.

How to insert Endnote

5. Similarly if you want to insert an endnote then you select a word.
6. Then click on “Insert Endnote”.
7. You will see the roman numbers like this one.
8. Then write the endnote reference which you want to insert for the endnote.

How to convert Footnote to endnote or endnote to footnote

You also have the option to change footnote to endnote or endnote to footnote.
1. For example I will click on the button here
2. Then click on Convert.
3. If you want to convert all footnotes to endnote then select this option.
4. Then click on “OK”.
5. Now if you want to convert footnote to endnote then let us see how to do it.
6. Let me undo it at first.
7. Then again I will click on this button at first.
8. Then click on “convert”.
9. Then select “convert all endnotes to footnotes”.
10. Then click on “Insert”.
11. Now the end note is converted into footnote.



How to delete Endnote and Footnote

9. Now if you want to delete both footnote and endnote then what you can do is select the number and then press delete button.
10. This will delete the footnote and the same method you can use for deleting the endnote.

How to delete all the Endnotes or Footnotes at the same time

If you want to delete all the endnote or footnotes then:
1. Click on “Replace”.
2. Clickon “Replace” tab.
3. Then click on “More”.
4. Click on “Special”.
5. Select “Footnote mark” if you want to delete all the footnote at once.
6. Leave blank in Replac with.
7. Then click on “Replace All”.
8. Click on “OK”.
9. It will show you how many footnotes are replaced.
10.So, if I go down I can’t see any footnotes.
11.Similarly if you want to remove all the endnotes, then select “Endnote mark”.
