A quick video for all you surfers out there on how to make your own surf wax.

I've been making my own since 1992 when I realized I was allergic to the commercial ones.
They use scents and something else that makes me sick.

I'm not giving exact measurements as I generally eye it out and there are a summer and winter versions. This video shows my summer version.
In the colder water and air during winter the vaseline gets 3 spoonfuls and a tad less beeswax.

Always melt the paraffin wax slowly. It can catch on fire if rapidly melted.
Never leave the melting waxes unattended.
I use a stainless steel pot and the pan/bowl I pour the liquid into is an old aluminum camping pan/bowl. I like cutting it into four pieces that are easy to handle when applying the wax.

You'll need to experiment with what works for where you surf. The proper mix should allow the wax to be applied with slightly more effort than what you're used to. If it's too soft it will melt easily and too hard it won't apply.

Never use over commercial wax. Clean all of the old wax off and wipe the board down with rubbing alcohol before applying.

If you leave your wax stash in too hot of a vehicle in direct sunlight, for hours it will melt and become oily. At that point, it's no good. Throw it out or make a candle.

The volcano stopped in August 2018 and it could be years before it gets going again.
