Description from the creator

An atomic binary LED clock is shown synchronized with an atomic Nixie tube clock with Hitachi CD81 nixie tubes. Each column consists of 4 LEDs together representing a digit. The rows have values 1,2,4 and 8 (powers of 2: 2^0, 2^1, 2^2 and 2^3). The value of each digit is calculated by adding the row values indicated by a burning LED. In the binary system each number is expressed by adding consecutive powers of two: ie the decimal number 7 is expressed by 1*2^0 + 1*2^1 + 1*2^2 + 0*2^3. In this example a burning LED stands for 1. Recorded using Panasonic HDC-TM300 full HD camcorder.
