How to Run Avalanche at Home: Oracle VM VirtualBox
ChannelAva LabsChapters
Description from the creator
"How to Run Avalanche at Home" is a series produced by FireStorm, an Avalanche community member. The first episode of the series walks through how you can get Virtual Machine container software (Oracle VM VirtualBox), install Ubuntu, and run an Avalanche Node in a safe, risk-free "sandbox" environment!
This is the perfect way to create an Avalanche Node and understand its functionality before committing to your dedicated node hardware! It is not recommended to run your final node on a virtual machine.
This video covers a variety of topics, including: Avalanche’s importance as a third-generation blockchain technology, navigating the virtual machine environment, installation options with Ubuntu, setting up Go, installing Git and GCC, downloading Avalanche repo files, and more.

Avalanche Nodes play a vital role in validating transactions, supporting the proof-of-stake consensus, and securing the blockchain platform as a whole. And you can maintain an active node with minimal hardware investment. It’s an ideal way to participate in the Avalanche ecosystem, and you can earn substantial staking awards as well.
