How to set up the Amazon Echo Show 8

In this video, I am going to show you how to set up your new amazon echo show 8. This video just focuses on setting it up, connecting it to your wifi network and amazon account.

Please have a look at my other echo show setup video if you want to see some tips and tricks on things to try once it is set up. This setup process will also work with the Echo Show 5 and the standard Echo Show. I will speed up some of the longer loading screens in this video so it doesn’t take too long.

The first thing you will need to do is turn it on. After a couple of minutes of loading, the Echo will make play a sound the screen will then go blank followed by the words echo. A blue screen should then appear saying “getting your device online”.

You will then be asked to select your language. You should use the touch screen to do this.

The device will then say ‘hello ready for setup’ and ask you to choose your WiFi network. You should now select your network and login.

After you have signed into the network the screen will say ‘connecting’ followed by ‘fetching registration status’.

It will then ask you to sign into your amazon account. If you have enabled 2-factor authentication it will ask you to enter the code you should have just received.

After you have signed in the screen will say “registering’ followed by ‘loading’.

You should now be greeted with a welcome screen. After you have read the welcome message press continue.

You will now be asked to confirm your time zone and your address. It asks for your address so that it can give you personalised information such as the local weather forecast.

You will then be asked to select the room the device is in, and to name the device. It asks you to name the device so that you know what device to ask for if you want to call it or play music in a different room.

Finally, you will be asked to select the background wallpaper.

After a short wait, you should hear a message saying “this device is ready”.

The home screen should then appear.

The first 2 things I like to try to make sure it is working is asking for the time and the weather.

Just say the wake word followed by what is the time, or what is the weather forecast? I won’t say the wake-word in this video so I don’t trigger your device. For example.

Another quick tip before I go is if you pull down from the top of the screen you can change the screen brightness and go to the settings.
