Start by downloading and installing the Neat Skype Status plugin.

To edit the settings go to Settings, Neat Skype Status.

You will need to add your Skype ID in these settings for the plugin to work properly.

Next you will need to go to your Skype application and under Tools, Options, Privacy you will need to check the "Allow my online status to be shown on the web".

With your privacy updated go to Appearance, Widgets then drag and drop the Neat Skype Status v1 widget to your sidebar.

In the plugin's settings you can edit the functionality of the plugin by editing what the button does, the icon's theme, and the update delay.
