How to Use the CrUX Dashboard in Data Studio

In this episode, Whitney shows you how to use the Chrome UX dashboard in Data Studio to easily create visualizations of large data sources. While there are over 4 million origins in the dataset, yours may not be included because there is a lack of sufficient data.

The CrUX dash is created with a tool called Community Connectors, which is inside of Data Studio. It uses a pre-existing link between raw CrUX data within BigQuery--a serverless data warehouse--and the visual capabilities of Data Studio.

You have to use an origin and not a full URL. In this example, we will be using ezoic.com. We could not, however, use ezoic.com/blog. If you do so, you will get a Community Connector Error page.

There are three types of pages included in each dashboard: a Core Web Metrics overview, Metric performance, and User demographic. Each of these pages shows a chart showing distributions over time for each monthly release of data.

Whenever new datasets are available, you can simply refresh the dashboard to get the new data. Monthly datasets are released on the second Tuesday of every month for the previous month. So for data on June, you would need to wait until the second Tuesday of July.
