Description from the creator

In this video i show how to create a working motion tracking effect (i take inspiration from GHOST IN THE SHELL movie.. the laughting man face-obscure) .

i used an animated GIF (converted to a transparent MOV video using FFMPEG) and a background video with my dog ( Thorin )

It's necessary to use latest nightly builds of Kdenlive because the 19.08.1 release has not data tracking export option on automask.

probably you can use this tutorial for upcoming 19.12 and 20.xx versions of Kdenlive.

here the nightly builds download page: binary-factory.kde.org/ (just search Kdenlive and select Windows or Linux versions)

here a more advanced example ( italian language ) youtu.be/pMtGDJRPwHs (with resize and tilting of the image)
