What’s up guys, this is Tennis Reviews and today we are going to learn how to add an overgrip to your tennis racket. First off, I would like to say that having a fresh grip on your tennis racket at all times is very important and it is one of the most looked over things in your tennis equipment as it can impact how you play your match in all aspects.
So first let’s go over the equipment that you will need in order to change your overgrip or add one to your racket. You will need your racket, I have my trusty Graphene Radical Pro, an over grip, today I am using the Head Super Comp Overgrip, but any overgrip is fine. You will also need a pair of scissors, and a pen or marker.
First what you will want to do is take off the overgrip on your racket if you have one on it. Be sure not to take the original grip off as you will not be able to add an overgrip to that. That will be a totally different video.
Afterwards, you will need to grab your new overgrip and take off the tape and unravel the overgrip. Most overgrips will have a plastic covering and you will also have to remove that from the grip before you start. Now you will have to locate the bottom of your racket and the smaller end of the overgrip. There will be a small starting tape on the bottom of the overgrip, you should also remove that before you start. Now starting from the bottom, wrap your grip in the same direction of the original grip if you are a right handed player and in the opposite direction if you are a left-handed player. I’m a right handed player so I’m going to follow the direction of the regular grip. Also be sure to leave a quarter inch space between each wrap.
Once you get to the end of the racket, take your marker and make a small mark where your overgrip meets the frame of the racket. Then wrap your grip around until the top of the grip now meets the spot where you made your first mark. Then make your second mark on your grip.
Using your scissors cut a straight line from the first mark to the second mark. Then wrap the end of your grip again and it should fit perfectly together. Lastly take your tape that you removed from the overgrip in the beginning and tape the end of your overgrip to the frame of your racket. And that’s it. You have just finished adding an overgrip to your tennis racket.
