How to Choose a Kayak Paddle

Having the right paddle can have a major impact on your kayaking experience. You will need to take into account your height, the width of the kayak and your stroke angle when determining paddle length.

Shaft materials can include aluminum, carbon or fiberglass. Carbon and fiberglass tend to be more lightweight and durable. The shape and size of the blade can have an impact. Narrow blades can be comfortable to use for longer periods. Larger blades allow for more powerful strokes.
