This video explains how to hold a catfish so you don't get stung by the catfish spines. Catfish have three spines and the smaller the catfish the sharper the spines. Madtom catfish and bullhead catfish have a very mild venom but blue catfish and channel catfish do not. However, if you are stung clean the wound thoroughly with antiseptic to avoid infection.
