First off, are you a team player or a selfish player? Being a selfish player to a certain degree isn't always a bad thing. There is such a thing as being too much of a team player or being a player that doesn't tale risk.

But if it is obvious that you only play for yourself or that you are in it for personal glory, then it will most likely go down as a negative in most soccer scouts books.

One of the most important areas in football is having a strong mentality. You could be one of the most skilled players in soccer, but if you have a weak mentality, it won't really matter.

If you lack confidence, let small things effect your game, or fail to keep your composure in pressure situations, you may be seen as having a weak mentality.

Big question, do you stand out when you play? Think about it. If a scout happens to be watching one of your matches and didn't come to scout a specific player, which player would get his attention.

If you don't immediately think you'd get his attention, you need to start thinking of ways you can have more of an impact in matches.

It's great to be a solid player or squad player, but most teams have them in abundance. It takes something more to be a valuable or impactful player for a team.

I say this all the time but are you in shape or are you not. Coming from someone who has struggled with fitness for many of my years, coaches do not appreciate you being out of shape.

It shows a lack of discipline and commitment to doing what's need to play at your best. Also, do you get pushed off the ball easily? Do you get stuck in or do you jump over tackles and shy away from them?

Finally, what level is your soccer IQ at? I talk about this one frequently, but that's only because it is really important.

Again, you could be the most skilled player in the world, but if you lack the IQ to act on it in the right moments, it won't matter how skilled you are.
