There have been a number of people who look at me like I am a wizard when I start explaining that some boats can travel faster than the wind. I've put together a little video explaining the major factor behind this phenomena, apparent wind. It is down to vectors but hopefully if you put aside any dislike of maths/physics then you can see how boats like the America's Cup catamarans hit 3x or higher!
