In today's video, Coach Tom explains how to STOP the FASTBREAK when the other team has numbers on you. As most players can attest, being the defender in a 2-on-1 break can be nearly impossible to come out on top. You can take on the ball handler, the man without the ball cutting to the basket, or you can try to play neutral. We suggest using what we call the "Break Breaker." It will force the ball handler to make a decision with the ball before he was expecting to, which usually leads to a good outcome for you!

As we show in the video, you're going to make a solid Hedge Step towards the ball handler before he gets the chance to get into the prime scoring area. Then you'll quickly fall back into the pocket between both of the players in anticipation of the pass. Typically, the ball handler will fumble the ball, take a poor shot, or try to pass the ball to his teammate. In any of those scenarios, you're ready to snap up the ball and be in fantastic position to do so. It seems so simple, but it will literally change the outcome of those fastbreak attacks towards your favor. Get after it, TEAM!
