Generally speaking, when navigating from a map in Hiking, you use a topographic map and work from 8 digit Grid References. I generally use a 1:25,000 map where available. However, sometimes it may be necessary to use Latitude Longitude Co-ordinates, for example in an emergency you may need to quote this to rescue organisations.
