Hey what's up! Today I want to share with you a super simple recipe for getting out of Auto.
This crash course on Aperture Priority mode and Exposure Compensation will give you creative control over what's in focus and the ability to fine-tune brightness.
For your notes, here are the ingredients:
1) Aperture Priority mode ("A" on Nikon / "Av" on Canon) with the ISO set to Auto
2) Use lower aperture f-numbers to blur the background and higher aperture f-numbers to put everything in focus
3) Use a positive (+) exposure compensation if the subject/scene is too dark and a negative (-) exposure
This recipe works amazingly well for most situations, however, I don't recommend it for fast action (sports and wildlife) or for extreme low light conditions. I'll create a video for both of those topics in the coming weeks.
If you feel up to it, please share a link to your photos taken with this recipe. I'd love to see them...and so would everyone else!
Thanks again for your unconditional love and support. I truly do appreciate you guys and gals so much.
Happy shooting! :)
