At one time or another, we have tunnel vision. And we only focus on the one person we're talking to, and forget about the other people in the room. But you can't. You have to find a way to include the people around you in the conversation. You can start by saying, "Do you two know each other?" Or just ask the other person's opinion about what you were just saying. Find a way to include everyone. And do a visual sweep of the room before you leave to make sure there isn't someone you forget to say hello to.
