Becoming a better advocate for your child with autism is crucial when going through the treatment process. If you’re wondering how to advocate for your child even, you’ve probably been doing it for a while now already without knowing. Advocating for your child is simply supporting them in getting what they need to live a happier and more successful life. I believe that to improve child advocacy skills, parents and professionals need to work together. Special education advocacy can be rough, so it’s important for everyone to be on the same page and being as supportive as can be. And to advocate autism is even harder as there are many waiting lists, assessment requirements and insurance issues. But with a supportive environment, an assessment, a plan that is based off that assessment, and parents and autism professionals working together, you and your child could live happier with less stress.
