How to catch a mole

With mole catching in full swing, I thought I would make a short video, showing you how I go about it. There is instruction on setting the trap for beginners.
One of the moles had only just gone into the trap and was still alive. It was finished off with a blow to the head.
The traps are made by "The Flatpack Company"
I checked the traps 4 hours after setting and had 8 moles that afternoon and a further 9 the following morning. A total of 17 moles from 25 traps on this farm.
Moles are agricultural pests, and the molehills damage agricultural machinery and attract weeds both of which have financial implications for the farmer.
If soil from the molehills gets into the bales of haylage/sileage then it can ruin each bale at high cost. If cattle eat the feed that has got soil in it, then milk yields can drop drastically.
Cattle can also get eye infections if the feed from infected bales. Vets bills are very expensive!
