How to create a group chat on Facebook


Hi Paul here from PRwilson Media. With Facebook messager you can chat with more than one friend at once. So you can set up and invite additional people and I'll show you how in this video. Here we go.

OK so you'd start a conversation with one friend and then you can add additional people to it. So let me just go to messages and I'll say new message, or I could say new group. Could call this group conversation with Peter and Jane and then search for people to add. So I want to add Peter and Jane Smith and then say create. And that's started the conversation. The other way to do it is if you are again in messenger and you say new message and type in to the name of the people involved so you could say one person or you can add additional people.so I could add Peter as well.

And then start typing your messages in to the area here. So, look under messages and yuo can see both of these options are valid. And again you can type in messages. Now if you want to close a conversation or if you've been invited to a conversation from one of your friends and you want to no longer participate you can click on the star wheel and you can either say delete the conversation (that's just your copy of it) or you can leave the conversation. Obviously as person is the owner , the starter of the conversation that would close it completely. and that will just leave this one. From the other persons point of view I'm just going to log in now as Peter Wilkins. I can see some messenger activity here. And that's the first one and I'll just respond to this one. I can make it before 11. Obviously you've got all the different options you'd normally have for a conversation, and I've got an additional person in there I didn't even notice I''d added. So shortly I'll edit the group but first I'm going to show you how someone leaves the group.

You click on the options and select leave conversation. So now I'm back as the person who originally started the group. Here I can select the person that I added to the group , click here on the 3 dots and say remove from group. And confirm to remove.

So lots of flexible options and I think it's up to 50 people you can have a messenger group conversation with. So it could be a very useful feature when you are trying to get an event together, you are trying to make sure everyone is going to be on the same page. You can just start the conversation. You can also do this on Facebook groups as long as there's no more than 50 people in that group. As soon as a group is bigger than 50 you can't message the people in the group any more, or you have to do it one at a time.
