How to create a timeline chart in Microsoft Excel

Begin by first setting up a table with 3 columns that have the values of time, milestones and height which will be used to construct your timeline chart.

Next highlight your time and height column and navigate to the insert tab and select clustered column. From here you will need to insert your milestone data into your timeline chart by selecting data labels in the options panel.

After you have completed these steps, the timeline diagram can be refined to fit any cosmetic or visual needs. A timeline is an extremely useful tool for projects as it visually represents the list of events/milestones needed for project completion in chronological order.
