The set up 

The sump pump will be dropped into the bottom of the pool. Make sure that you have the pump with the float on it so that it will shut off when the pool is empty. Attach the pump to the hose with the 2 inch hose clamps. Make sure this attachment is tight so that it does not blow off. Then, run the back wash hose all the way to where you want the discharged water to go. It is important that you dispose of the water correctly. Running it down the road may not be up to code in your area, so contact your city to see where you can drain the water. Use pvc to make extensions as well as an 90 degree elbow if you are draining into a clean out. Plug the pump in with your extension cord and start draining. 

Important info 
Although, draining a pool may sound easy, there are some important steps before you walk away. Make sure that the pools equipment is shut off at the breaker so that nothing can turn on. If the pools pump or lights turn on while the pool is empty, it may cause damage. Lastly, make sure that the water supply line to the pool is off. If the pool is equipped with an automatic water filler, this needs to be turned off.
