Step 1: Drawing a finger pointing requires the use of long arc-shaped lines. Using adequate length and width is also important. Begin your finger pointing doodle by drawing an oddly shaped open arc shape with a hook in the end. See the example to get a visual reference. This odd shape will become the thumb of your hand.

Step 2: Let’s now doodle the actual finger that is doing the pointing. Use one continues and elongated arc shape for this purpose. Notice where this arc shape is located in relation to the thumb you drew in step 1. Also, notice its length. Too long or too short, and our finger will end up looking a little odd. 🙁

Step 3: When we point one finger at somebody else, there are always four fingers pointing back at us. 😉 To doodle these fingers, use long and elongated arc shapes as shown within the example. Notice the alignment, width, and length of each finger. Also, notice how the thumb overlaps a couple of fingers. This is why it’s important to always doodle the thumb first.

Step 4: To doodle the arm and the shirt sleeve, use a combination of straight and slightly curved lines. Notice how the forearm is only partially visible as it is covered by the shirt sleeve.

Step 5: Add the final touches to your finger pointing doodle by adding some nails, some wrinkles, and some color to your drawing. 🙂
