📯In today's video you will learn how to make an illumination of capital letter D in the style of Medieval manuscripts. It is a step by step guided tutorial showing the whole process from start to finish.

📜There are also some interesting facts and historical information about women in Medieval times or Middle Ages, who is chatelaine or castellan, what is chatelaine keychain, Medieval businesswomen and Medieval female writers (such as Christine de Pizan, Margaret Paston, lady Brilliana Harley of Brampton castle).

📜This illumination features botanical motifs, a miniature painting of a Medieval queen or princess wearing a long robe and a blossoming tree.

Traditional manuscript illumination requires expensive materials such as vellum or parchment paper. However, you can achieve similar look using cheaper art supplies: ink pens, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, white gel pen, acrylic paint etc. Draw with me and make your own illuminated manuscript project at home.

~ Ruler, pencil, eraser
~ Waterproof ink pens or ink fineliners: black, Sepia, green, orange, brown, dark red or bordeaux color with small nibs: sizes 0.3, 0.1 and 0.05
(I'm using black Pigma Micron ink pen 0.1, 0.3, 0.05;
Sepia, green and dark red Copic multiliners size 0.3,
Staedtler brown and orange fineliners,
Art Line dark red fineliner).
~ Optional- white gouache or white acrylic
~ Small round synthetic brushes:
-Daler Rowney Aquafine round brush 2/0
-Princeton Neptune brush size 2
