Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is
Alan with the contractor license school
and this video that I want to present to
you today is how to get a b general
contractor or general building
construction license in seven easy steps
so the first thing you need to know is
you have to have the necessary
experience that experience basically the
state is asking that you have four years
of journeyman level experience well in
what well with the general B or general
construction license it needs to be in
framing things like subfloor and wall
framing roof framing seismic and load
requirements deck siding stucco things
like that, you also need to know some
information on some core trades like
plumbing electrical HVAC concrete earth
work installation roofing and you're
gonna need to know because this is the
general construction license some things
on some finish traits. Things like
painting, staining tile flooring, stuff
like that. So basically, that's the
experience that you need. Now you don't
have to worry about that because all you
have to do is jump into a good program
like ours. In fact, that leads me to the
next step, number two. You got to get
involved in some kind of contractor
license school or online prep course. We
offer both of those. Our contractor
license school is located in seven
different locations and if you're not
near one of those locations or even out
of the state or out of the country you
can jump into one of our online or
homeschool programs. And you can do that
anywhere in the world at contractor
license. Now as long as you have
internet you can access it through a cell phone, an iPad,
or a computer. The third thing is you
need to fill out that application. Now
feedback that we've received from some
of our contractors is that application
can be quite daunting, but we don't want
you to focus on that. We're gonna help
you walk through that step by step and
we're going to make sure all the I's are
dotted and T's are crossed. What we
really want you to focus on studying our
materials, passing our tests. We offer a
pass test guarantee. So we're saying hey
you pass our test you should have no
problem passing the state exams. The
thing you need to do is you. Then after
sending an application you appear to go
pass your state exams there's going to
be two of them the law in the trade each
one you're given three and a half hours
to pass. So plan on spending about eight
hours at the testing facility where you
go. And you don't have to worry about
that we're going to prepare you with our
curriculum and our materials. Number five
is get your surety bond. That surety
bond protects your client. It's insurance
that protects them for fifteen thousand
dollars. It cost you about a hundred to
one hundred and fifty dollars a year
depending on your credit. And you
get that done in any insurance company.
And, by the way, we are also an insurance
company, so we can help take care of that.
Number six, get your live scan. Your live
scan can be done anywhere in California,
any police station, or UPS Store. You'll
also get a list once you pass your state
exams there at that testing facility of
other potential locations you can go to.
And here's the beautiful thing about
getting that live scan, once you get that
live scan you don't have to send anything off
or email anybody or copy any papers. That
facility is going to send all those
papers to the contractor's state
licensing board so you don't have to
think about it. And here's what I
believe to be the single most important
part of these seven steps and that's
step number seven. And it's titled this,
make it happen. You know the first
step to success is stepping forward and
