If you want to hire a professional genealogist then you will first want to identify your research question, being as coherent and specific in your goal for the genealogy research.

Some places you can find directories of genealogists include fiverr.com, APGen.org, ICAPGen.org, BCGcertification.org, Ancestry.com, and Genealogists.com. Costs can range anywhere from $25 to $125 depending on many different factors and you may also be charged for fees incurred to conduct research. Results for family history research can never be guaranteed but you should always expect a final report written using the Genealogical Proof Standard.
