In this video, you'll learn what strong electrolytes, weak electrolytes, and nonelectrolytes are. Then you'll learn how to identify whether a compound is a strong, weak, or non-electrolyte.

An electrolyte is a compound that dissolves in water to produce a solution that conducts electricity.

A strong electrolyte is a compound that readily dissociates. Strong electrolytes are either strong acids, strong bases, or soluble ionic compounds.

A weak electrolyte is a compound that partially dissociates. Weak electrolytes are either weak acids, weak bases, or insoluble ionic compounds. Weak electrolytes conduct electrical current poorly.

A non-electrolyte is a compound that does not dissociate when dissolved in water. Non-electrolytes are covalent compounds that aren't acids nor bases.

By the end of this video, you'll know exactly how to Identify Strong, Weak, and Non-Electrolytes.
