Learn how to add contacts in Gmail by importing.


You can import contacts into your Gmail account provided they are formatted into a CSV file format. The only exception is apple's vcard format for apple contacts.

If you are importing contacts from another email service provider to Gmail, then it should be easy because address books exported from other mail providers like yahoo, hotmail, etc are already formated to CSV files.
If the contacts you want to import are not in a CSV file format already, you can create your own CSV file using either Google spreadsheets or Microsoft excel.
If you have a CSV format file ready:
Open Gmail ans sign in.
Click Gmail and select 'Contacts'
Click on the 'More drop down menu and select 'Import'

To import a CSV contacts file to Gmail successfully, it cannot have more the 3000 contacts.
If it does, you have to split it into sections.
