Description from the creator

Fireplaces are a great way to relax on a winter evening, but they aren’t the most efficient way to heat your home. Our expert, Glen Mandold from Sonshine Chimney & Air Duct, explains how a wood-burning insert can heat your home without sending that nice, warm air out through a chimney.

Another way to make your wood-burning fireplace more efficient is to install a stainless steel radiant fire back. This sits in the back of the firebox to help radiate heat out into the room instead of up the chimney. Always remember to close the damper while the fireplace is not in use to keep the heated air in your home. If your damper is damaged or the seal isn’t tight, consider getting a lock-top damper, which is installed at the top of the chimney and can be raised or closed by a chain inside the fireplace.
